A piece of brass round stock is chucked in the lathe collet. I machined the diameter and a shoulder to the following dimensions:
Valve Packing Gland Nut
0.625 Dia, 0.875 long
Cylinder Packing Gland Nut
0750 Dia, 1.125 long
I will do all of the machining without removing the part from the collet.
