Cyclinders - setting up to machine the inner mating
surface 6.JPG
12-Apr-2005
Starting the Cyclinder machining. The first step was
to establish a reference surface. We decided that this would be the
inner mating surface. The surface was cleaned up and brought to
dimension. It was detrimined later that this dimension was too large
and we re-machined after the cyclinders were bored.
Of the 10 holes, 6 were drilled to the through size
for a 10-32 screw, and the 4 marked holes were drilled and reamed for
3/16. A fixture plate was made to hold 4 matching 3/16 pins and bolted
to an angle plate. This fixture was used throughout the cyclinder
machining process, and also for holding the Valve Guides and Rear
Cyclinder Covers (the bosses for the Crosshead Guides) square.
