I had aready planned to use the modified design for the Main Rod when these were taken. I clamped it to the mill table and machined both ends flat and the same dimension. Even before I got all of the raw casting marks out, it was below the proper size. After flexing it to show how soft the material was, I bent it. With the new design removing most of the material at the rear end, I decided to make the Main Rod from a piece of steel.
I first tried using the face mill.
